Vidhi Singhania, daughter of Mahendra & Manju Sanghi and wife of Nidhipati Singhania, is a designer epitomizing the perfect blend
of tradition & contempory fashion. When Vidhi Singhania moved to Kotah
little did she know that one day she & the aponymous fabric would weave
magic together.
Many weavers approached the company to look for alternate
occupation due to dying art of handloom and no money to sustain their
profession. She endeavored to revive and keep the traditional art of weaving
alive and turn Kotah into an Avant-garde style statement.
She started
designing saris with these weavers for corporate gifting with the support of
her husband. Her training began with these 2000 weavers who resided in Kotah.
She insists that they taught her more then she did to them. Today she has
firmly put Kotah sari on the haute couture map.
With deep understanding of the weave, developed over the
last 16 years, Vidhi Singhania sees herself first as a revivalist of Indian
handloom and then as a designer. Today her clientele includes customers both
in India & overseas, establishing her as a nonpareil in Kotah designer
wear.
A veteran in the fashion industry, she has been a member of the Fashion
Design Council of India (FDCI) for the last eight years. Her success story led
her to the School of Varanasi & Chanderi, & culminated into her state
of the art store at New Delhi.
Vidhi Singhania today is amongst the most well established
names in the Indian textile industry & has played a significant role in
reviving the ancient fabric of Kotah saris into a chic, elegant fashion
statement, thereby preserving and promoting the art. Her designs are renowned
for the intricate karigari that goes into transforming the weave into a piece
of art complete with meticulous embroidery, hand painting, butis, motifs and
zari. Her flagship store at in New Delhi, promises an exceptionally rare
collection of lavish weaves, ensembles & accessories.
